About the Project

Little Bear Smocks is a native mobile shopping app developed for a boutique children's apparel brand specializing in classic smocked clothing and personalized gifts. The app extends the client's Shopify-based store into a dedicated mobile channel, delivering fast performance, smooth catalog browsing, and a reliable checkout experience tailored to the brand's product range.

Built as a cross-platform Flutter app with a Node.js backend and MongoDB data layer, the solution supports a wide style-driven product catalog including apparel, accessories, gifts, toys, and luggage. The app enables personalized/monogrammed products, preorder items, and app-exclusive perks to drive downloads and repeat engagement.

Context & Challenge

The client, a boutique children's apparel brand specializing in classic smocked clothing and personalized gifts, wanted a dedicated mobile app to extend their Shopify-based store into a native shopping experience for their customers. The challenge was to translate a wide, style-driven product catalog (apparel, accessories, gifts, toys, luggage) into a clean native app experience, support personalized/monogrammed products and preorder items within the shopping flow, enable app-exclusive perks (early access, offers) to drive downloads and repeat engagement, and deliver a fully functional, production-ready app under end-to-end technical ownership.

Approach & Solution

As Tech Lead and Senior Mobile Developer, I led the design and development of the Little Bear Smocks app from the ground up, managing the entire mobile build and overseeing all related technical work. The solution combined a Flutter-based cross-platform app with a Node.js backend and MongoDB data layer, delivering fast performance, smooth catalog browsing, and a reliable checkout experience tailored to the brand's product range.
